Satan Loves A Good Logo

Written by Tom Gilhuley on July 22, 2010 in Alcohol, Parks & Recreation,Thought Leaders

Well, if you’re like me, and chances are you aren’t, you spent the majority of your childhood drawing heavy metal band logos on everything … book covers, book bags, desks, chairs, tables, jean jackets, skateboards … pretty much anything that ink would adhere to. Metal music was a source of energy for me as a kid. It made me want to go out and conquer the world, take on the establishment, shout at the top of my lungs, “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!” Okay, maybe that last part didn’t happen, but regardless, heavy metal was what I lived on. In fact, if it wasn’t for Slayer’s “South of Heaven” album, I’m not sure I would’ve survived the two years I was forced to go to a Catholic High School.

What does all this mean? Well, designer, Christophe Szpajdel had his epic collection of heavy metal band logos published by Gestalten as a collection in one of the coolest-looking books I’ve ever seen. That’s what it means. If you are a designer who loves heavy metal, or a random person surfing the Internet who loves heavy metal, or a designer who loves logos, you must check out this book. Here’s more about the book from the FastCompany website.

Honestly, if someone gets me this book for Xmas or something, you will be my hero. You can purchase the new “Lord of the Logos” book from Gestalten here.

(Pssssst, that photo above is from the Gestalten website. Go there and get the book.)

Long Live Metal!
