Facebook, Politics and Bulls#@t!
I absolutely love election season! Turns out in Colorado there’s a GOP senate primary race that’s getting fired up via a new Facebook page built to help one politician attack the other. Using social media for political marketing is a must nowadays, and this Facebook page is a great example of getting it right. Granted, attack ads are old news, but turning an attack ad into a Facebook page is a fairly new idea. The new page is engaging for its content and then slips in “the ask” at the right time when users are fired up about a certain someone’s comments.
Jane Norton’s camp built the Facebook page to go after her Republican adversary, Ken Buck after his comments about him not wearing high heels. It appears that yet another old school politician failed to realize just how fast news travels in 2010. Doh! Well, at least politicians in all their wisdom still take time to make mistakes to keep the rest of us entertained. Thank you. Also, a quick kudos to Norton’s camp for getting a jump on things in the social media space.
If you live in Colorado, or have any interest in this, check out the ClickZ article about “The Buck Stops Here” Facebook attack page. And, may we all have an eventful political season!
USA! USA! USA!
