Wyclef for President!

Written by Tom Gilhuley on August 4, 2010 in Thought Leaders

According to the BBC and various other sources, Wyclef Jean is going to announce he’s running for president of Haiti. All I can say is, AWESOME! It’s about time a musician gets on the ballot instead of all these actors out there. Many of my favorite artists write and sing about politics, but this is the first instances where I actually get to see a musician run for office with a serious chance of winning. Very exciting.

Wyclef was born in Haiti, and has been supporting the people of Haiti through his charity work and regular visits to the country. After the devastation following the big earthquake, he felt now was the time to help the people of Haiti advance their country, especially in terms of technology and infrastructure. I hope he wins and gets the job done. It’ll be fun to watch how he runs his campaign and uses the online space to raise awareness and dollars. Go get ‘em.

And to help kick off his campaign, here’s some Chappelle Show classic clips one in which Wyclef is a guest star. Enjoy.
